Dr. Kavanagh was born in Vancouver and enjoyed life in a family with many pets and eventually a horse. After graduating from University of Saskatchewan (W.C.V.M.) in 1982, she worked in a small animal practice in Ontario for 2 years and returned to B.C. to work 4 years in Langley and Vancouver. Ms. Veronica Stamm, RAHT
Veronica’s dream since early childhood was to become a veterinarian. At 13 years of age, she began working in kennels and later volunteered in an animal hospital. In 1972, in her birthplace, Chile, it was controversial for a woman to pursue a career in veterinary medicine.

Susanne Destobel, RAHT
Susanne’s interest in veterinary medicine began when she was about 5 years old and was “helping” her mom and dad care for their old kitty. She wanted to grow up and “help all kitties and puppies not be sick anymore.”

Shelly Allardyce
Shelly is a married mother of two who grew up on the west side of Vancouver. Eight years ago Shelly and her family bought a house in the Steveston area of Richmond. They currently share it with two Border Collies; Sasha and Nick, a kitten named Sylvie, and many feathered friends.

Justine Ryan
Justine was born in Kamloops but when she was only a few months old, her parents packed up with her and her two older brothers and moved to a small community in South Delta. Their house was always filled with animals, big and small. There was Max (a Basset Hound), Kitka and Mya (two Siamese cats), and dozens of smaller creatures including frogs, newts, fish and hamsters.
