Dr. Claire Kavanagh, DVM

Born in Vancouver, Dr. Kavanagh enjoyed life in a family with many pets including a horse. After graduating from University of Saskatchewan (W.C.V.M.) in 1982, she worked in a small animal practice in Ontario for 2 years and returned to B.C. to work 4 years in small animal practice in Langley and Vancouver.

In 1988, wanderlust and an employment opportunity took Dr. Kavanagh to Asia where she worked in Hong Kong for over 10 years and married a Canadian engineer. There they had 2 lovely daughters before she and her family returned to Vancouver in 2001. She even has clients who have moved here from Hong Kong and have sought her out here. Now that’s loyalty!
Since then she continues to enjoy working in small animal practice and especially enjoys working at Island Veterinary Hospital! Her steady and thoughtful manner is well appreciated by our team and clients alike. She is very detailed and never misses a thing when dealing with complex medical cases.
Last but not least, of course her family also includes two lovely cats; Daniel and Cinder-Jane who provide much joy and entertainment for the family.
