Rob Elliot,
Practice Manager

Upon meeting Rob with his open and friendly nature, people are generally not surprised to learn that he’s a displaced Maritimer, originally from the beautiful Annapolis Valley of Nova Scotia. Rob moved to Vancouver in 1996 for his career as a sales representative with a University text book publisher. This position rapidly evolved into a sales management position and, in the end, Rob was responsible for a sales team of about a dozen reps that truly appreciated his fresh and positive outlook on what it meant to be a team leader.

In 1999, Rob and Yvonne (Dr. Van Duin) met and let’s just say; the rest is history. The “two-peas-in-a-pod” melded their feline families within the year; not that the cats were all that happy about it. Rob and Yvonne were married in 2002 in Kamloops on a ranch wearing cowboy boots and hats with close friends and family to celebrate the event in true Van Elliot style!

After Rob and Yvonne became the owners of Island Veterinary Hospital, it only seemed natural that with his outstanding team management skills, Rob should become practice manager (and sometimes customer service representative). He brings a great energy to the practice. If you stop by when he’s around, he’ll probably ask if you’d like a fresh cup of brew and make you feel like you’ve known him forever.

Outside of the practice, Rob is often seen with a tool belt around his waist, renovating the house or building something or another. His more recent interest is environmental sustainability and he’s taken “locally grown” vegetables to a new level…in the back yard! Rob is also an avid reader and always has many books on the go: the theme recently has been the environment. But Rob’s number one passion is his family. He loves spending time with his children, Lily and Kai…his little princess and prince, and Yvonne.
